Jay Z, Chief Keef Top HipHopWired's Multi-Million Dollar Label Deals List

Jay Z, Chief Keef Top HipHopWired's Multi-Million Dollar Label Deals List
A$AP Rocky also had one of the largest deals named in HipHopWired's list.
Chris Miles garnered attention last month after signing a deal with Warner/Chappell that could land him more than $1.5 million plus royalties in five albums.
That figure was compared to a series of other recent deals in “9 Multi-Million Dollar Label Deals In Hip Hop” list compiled by HipHopWired.
Jay Z had the most lucrative contract named in the story, checking in with the $150 million deal he signed in 2008 with Live Nation.
Chief Keef’s $6 million deal with Interscope Records was the second-highest deal cited.
Another pact of note was A$AP Rocky’s $3 million deal with Polo Grounds Music, which is under the RCA Records umbrella.

Instagram Flexin': Nicki Minaj & Her Thong Trend Worldwide

Instagram Flexin': Nicki Minaj & Her Thong Trend Worldwide
This week, Nicki Minaj's thong causes worldwide IG thirst, DJ Khaled loses his pants and Carmelo Anthony helps Fat Joe erase some bad memories from The Rucker.
According to a familiar cliché, a picture is worth a thousand words. Your favorite celebrities—including rappers—are doing less and less press, but luckily their thumbs and smartphones still work. Instagram has provided a way for them to document their lives and/or thoroughly embarrass themselves for our collective enjoyment. The beauty of it all is that you don’t even need to join Instagram, as most rappers are perfectly fine leaving their feeds open for public viewing. And if you’d rather avoid the IG life altogether, we’ve filtered through the top rapper’s pictures and videos and consolidated all the week’s events into one convenient feed.
This week, Nicki Minaj shut down Instagram by flexing her considerable assets for the cover artwork of her new single, “Anaconda” and Murs joined the festivities at Comic-Con 2014 in his Adventure Time leggings. Check the rest of the week’s top Instagram posts below.

Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” Artwork (And Memes) Dominate Instagram

How do you get Nicki Minaj and the phrase #Anaconda to begin trending on social media in far flung places like Qatar? When Nicki Minaj donned a g-string and matching Air Jordans for the cover art of her single “Anaconda,” Instagram showed its collective thirst. And then the memes came. Drake’s faced imposed over Nicki’s ass? Check. Nicki’s hindquarters replacing the two O’s in the default Google searchbar? Yessir. Nicki had some fun with it before blasting outlets she felt promoted a double standard of beauty. Aside from the thousands of teenage boys out there with sprained wrists operating their laptops and phones with one hand, chalk it up to a net positive. Plus anytime Nicki takes to IG and shouts out on some DX content, it’s always a good week

Common Talks Playing Green Lantern With Latino Superman, Asking Serena Williams About Drake + MORE (VIDEO)

Common
Common once remarked “I got my SAG card, baby I’m an actor” on his 2007 song “Break My Heart” and has been waving that card around ever since. During a recent interview, Common spoke on talking to Serena Williams about Drake, once playing Green Lantern
Back in 2008, Common revealed he was casted as Green Lantern in a potential movie entitled Justice League of America. The movie was scrapped by Warner Bros due to the Writers Guild of America going on strike, but Common reveals on The Breakfast Club the movie included a Latino Superman:
I was the Green Lantern for a minute ’cause we were doing the movie Justice League. Yeah, I had the gig. We went down to Australia and i had the suit on and everything. [Laughs] I was ready, man. I was geeked, ’cause I was like at that time, this is 2008, I was like ‘there really ain’t Black super heroes out there.” It was a Latino brother too, he was playing Superman. At the time, we were like “man, Black and Latino kids are going to see us and be like I can be a superhero. If you think about it, a lot of the superheroes they seeing are only white.
Two weeks ago, Common spoke on his 2011 beef with Drake stemming over rumors that Drake was in an intimate relationship with Common’s ex-girlfriend Serena Williams. Common admits for the first time that during the beef he spoke directly to Serena about the allegations:
I definitely talked to her about it. [Laughs] I definitely talked to her about it. But you know, at the end of the day, once she ain’t your lady, ain’t too much…you know, what else can I say?

Snoop Dogg Recalls Smoking In White House Bathroom

by ANDRES TARDIO

Snoop Dogg Recalls Smoking In White House Bathroom
Snoop Dogg and Jimmy Kimmel speak about one of the Doggfather's experiences in The White House.
Jimmy Kimmel recently asked Snoop Dogg if he's ever smoked in The White House.
"In the bathroom," Snoop Dogg said. "Not in the White House, but in the bathroom. I said, 'May I use the bathroom for a second?' They said, 'What are you going to do #1 or #2?' I said, '#2.' I said, 'When I do #2, I usually have a cigarette or I light something to get the aroma right.' They said, 'You know what? You can light a piece of napkin.' I said, 'I'll do that.' The napkin was this."
Later in the episode, Kimmel joked that ABC doesn't allow its hosts to smoke marijuana on television, alluding to Snoop's smoking on the show.
Snoop Dogg has been supportive of President Barack Obama for years. In 2012, he endorsed Obama.
“Obama for four more years, man,” he said at the time. “Bush fucked up for eight years, so, I mean, you gotta at least give him eight years. He cleaned half the shit up in four years, realistically. It ain’t like y’all gave him a clean house. Y’all gave him a house where the TV didn’t work, the toilet was stuffed up - everything was wrong with the house...He had to come in and get your thing together, then he knocked down our most hated, the most wanted, the one who had our terror on orange or red or whatever color it was on [Osama bin Laden] - he went and found him, the one Bush couldn’t seem to find, the one who seemed to fly away in the dead of night and all that...so give him [another] four years to get his thing together and finish this deal out."

(Reuters) - YouTube has embarked on a new round of discussions with Hollywood and independent producers to fund premium content, two sources with knowledge of the talks told Reuters, a move that could bolster a three-year-old multimillion-dollar effort that has had mixed success so far.
The talks underscore Google Inc's desire to complete YouTube's transition from a repository for grainy home videos to a site sporting the more polished content crucial to securing higher-priced advertising.
Over the past two months, YouTube executives have begun making the rounds, talking to Hollywood producers to explore the kinds of support it could offer its content creators and produce more must-see programming, according to the two people.
Executives did not lay out exactly how a program would be structured. One of the two people said the site may offer between $1 million and $3 million to produce a series of programs, and might contribute marketing funds as well.
The second person said the site was interested in videos shorter than the 30-minute, TV network-quality Web shows that Amazon.com Inc and other online sites have recently funded.
"We are always exploring various content and marketing ideas to support and accelerate our creators," a YouTube representative said in an email. The site declined to comment on the meetings.
The latest round of discussions is in its initial phases and actual measures may never materialize, the sources said.
YouTube is by far the world's most popular location for video streaming, with more than 1 billion unique visitors a month, far surpassing Netflix Inc and Amazon. But it is trying to lure more marketers for premium video advertising, boosting margins as overall prices for Google's advertising declines.
YouTube set aside an estimated $100 million in late 2011 to bankroll some 100 channels, though it never confirmed amounts spent or other details. Beneficiaries of that largesse included Madonna and ESPN, as well as lesser-known creators. Reuters was one of the companies that received funds for a channel.
But few of those have garnered much mainstream attention.
"Over 115 of the channels launched as part of that initiative are now in the top 2 percent most-subscribed to channels on the platform," a company representative said in an email.
YouTube has continued to provide backing for its content creators. It provides production facilities for creators, offers tips on how best to create content, and provides small amounts of funds for creators to test ideas.

The site also provides marketing support for online celebrities, including paying for billboards and TV ads for the likes of beauty blogger Michelle Phan and baker Rosanna Pansino.

Serena Williams struggles to start doubles match, retires after just three games

It was a scary situation on Tuesday at Wimbledon, as Serena Williams and sister Venus took the court for their second-round doubles match at Wimbledon, only to retire after just three games because of some disorientation from Serena.
As you can see in this clip, Serena struggled in her warmup for the match, mishandling balls and looking totally out of it, and that continued as the match was expected to begin.
Serena was seen with tears in her eyes as trainers came over to check on her as Venus sat next to her, and while they did go on court to begin the match, you could tell right away that something was not right with Serena Williams.
The Williams sisters dropped the opening game, but it was when Serena was set to serve that you could really see something was bothering her.
Check out her first attempt at a serve in the match on Court No. 1.

It wasn't long after this that the sisters decided to retire down 3-0, and while we haven't heard from Serena, yet, I'm sure plenty more will come from Wimbledon as we check to make sure everything is okay with the No. 1 player in the world.
