Doe B Passes Away

Doe B is reportedly shot and killed in Montgomery, Alabama.
Doe B has passed away, according to his management team and his Grand Hustle imprint head T.I. He was 22.
"RIP to my lil brother Doe B," T.I. said via Twitter today (December 28). "We gon miss u my nigga. U'll never be forgotten & U WILL NOT DIE IN VAIN. We Love U champ. Always."
It appears Doe B's passing was due to gun violence in a Montgomery, Alabama night club. Doe B's manager, DJ Frank White, addressed the matter on Twitter by saying that weapons were allowed in the club.
HipHopDX would like to extend condolences to Doe B's family, friends, fans and associates.
Doe B was also reportedly shot in the eye on his way out of a nightclub in 2009 as a 17 year old. The rapper spoke about the shooting in a June interview with vladtv.com

E-40 Shares New Details On Biggie Setup

E-40 Shares New Details On Biggie Setup

by DANIELLE HARLING

E-40 says he called off a possible hit on Notorious B.I.G., says the incident resulted in a shout out in the "Life After Death" album notes.
Following the release of a DVD titled Notorious B.I.G.: Bigger Than Life, West Coast rapper E-40 has continued to speak on an incident featured on the DVD that involved both himself and the late Notorious B.I.G. E-40 spoke vaguely on the incident in 2010 and shared that while Biggie was in town, a few of his associates “got at him”following comments the Brooklyn wordsmith made about E-40 in a magazine interview.
E-40 shed even more light on the incident during an interview with Complex.com this week. He again stated that he took no part in the fake concert that was booked for Biggie in Sacramento and also shared the details of a phone call he received while Biggie was in town.
According to E-40, he received a phone call late at night from a man claiming to be in the same area as Biggie. The man then asked E-40 if he wanted him to do anything to the rapper.
“But a concert was booked that I didn’t book,” E-40 said. “And I wanna tell y’all this. I got a call like 11 at night. ‘40, I got this nigga Biggie Smalls down here woo wopty woo woo. What you want me to do with him?’ You gotta understand. Just being upset cause somebody said they ain’t fuckin with your music that ain’t enough to try to do somebody in. That’s not cool. That’s some bitch shit. That ain’t cool. I got on the phone with dude. I was like ‘I didn’t know you felt like that’…Anyway, to make a long story short, I got him home safe. Got him back to the hotel safe. I didn’t book that concert. That’s the main thing I want to say. But the shit that went down as far as my folks on his head, they was. And I called it off.”
E-40 again explained that the entire incident was brought about due to comments Biggie made during an interview with a Canadian magazine. When asked to rank a handful of West Coast artists on a scale from one to 10, E-40 says Biggie gave him a zero.
“A lot of people know about the Biggie incident,” E-40 said. “When he came to Northern California. Some of my folks was highly upset that he had did an article—I was upset that he did an article in a Canadian magazine…They asked him from a scale to one to 10 what do you feel about these artists. So, he would say Spice 1. I don’t know if it was a three, a four, or a two. Ice Cube, I don’t know what he gave him, but I know he gave me a zero. Right? And I’m a fixture out there on my soil, right? West Coast, and they fuck with me in New York at the time too as well. So, I was like ‘okay.’ Of course I was upset about that. My dudes seen that. Everybody was upset about that.”
E-40 says his cordial interaction with Biggie as a result of the incident led to the rapper giving him a shout out in the album notes for Life After Death.
In an interview with Hip Hop Wired last year, E-40 said his encounter with Biggie in Sacramento was one he didn’t speak on until Biggie’s people brought it to light.
“So [Biggie's people] hit me, we pow-wowed, got him back safe and that was that, man…you know that I'm so real that I never even spoke on it,” he said. “His folks spoke on that, I never brought it up."

Scarface Says Hip Hop Is Intentionally Being Dumbed Down

Scarface Says Hip Hop Is Intentionally Being Dumbed Down

Scarface feels Hip Hop has become dumbed down because the genre was becoming too great.

While appearing on The Combat Jack Show this week, Houston rapper Scarface shared the details of a conspiracy theory he feels directly involves today’s Hip Hop. According to the Geto Boys emcee, today’s music, particularly Hip Hop, is being dumbed down by those with power.
“I be looking at shit like a conspiracy…That’s the way I feel about music, man,” Scarface said. “You know what I mean? I feel like the powers that be are intentionally dumbing down our craft, man. I feel like they dumbing us down. Because the dumbest shit I ever heard is on the radio right now.”
He further elaborated on his conspiracy theory as he commented on “urban Hip Hop” versus “suburban Hip Hop,” and spoke on how “dumb” Hip Hop has become. Scarface later suggested that the powers that be are dumbing down the genre because it was becoming too great.
“To paint the picture that I’m trying to paint to you guys is it seems like all our shit is sounding really stupid and really, really dumb. Really, really corny,” the Texas rapper said. “And then, you know, you got the other shit that sounds really, really [great]…I wanna say this shit as diplomatic and as responsible as I can…When urban Hip Hop sounds like this and suburban Hip Hop sounds like that, I kinda feel fucked up. You know? It’s like our shit fucked up and the powers that be pour salt on the wound…I don’t even look at it as a threat or it being too fucking powerful. I just look it as being too fucking great.”
Scarface made similar comments earlier this year during an interview with Hardknock TV when he informed those watching that the people in control of Hip Hop are white and Jewish.
"I feel like we losing it," he said. "I feel like the people that are in control of what Hip Hop does is so fucking White and so fucking Jewish and so they don't give a fuck about what the culture and the craft really is about."

Three 6 Mafia's founding member Ricky "Lord Infamous" Dunigan has reportedly died at the age of 40. The rapper's body was found at his mother's home in Memphis, Tennessee on Friday, Dec. 20, HipHopDX reports.
Dunigan first broke out in the music industry with the help of DJ Paul and Juicy J. On Saturday, DJ Paul's publicist confirmed the news of his passing.
"He did pass away at his mothers house last night in Memphis," Dove Clark told HipHopDX in an interview. "The cause of death is unknown. We're actually trying to figure out how he died and that is all the information we currently have." (Back in 2010, Dunigan suffered a heart attack and stroke.)
"He passed away in his sleep from a heart attack," DJ Paul told The Hollywood Reporter. "He said he was tired, he wanted to sleep. He sat down at the kitchen table, put his head in his arms to lay down ... to get some sleep."
The sudden death has also been confirmed by other members of the group via social media. "R.I.P. lord infamous," Juicy J tweeted Saturday. "Thx you for your prayers, I'm very hurt, can't believe it's true." Lil Wyte added: "He gave us the name #Triple6Mafia he was a pioneer, he was a god, he was my friend. RIP Ricky 'Lord Infamous' Dunnigan."
Three 6 Mafia was created in the mid-90s. In 2006, they won Best Original Song for "It's Hard out Here for a Pimp" (a pivotal song in the film Hustle and Flow) at the 78th Academy Awards. Two years later, they went on to win Favorite Band/Duo/Group at the American Music Awards

Children Rap Explicit Lyrics but Creators say "We hope this film pushes...more honest and balanced art." You Decide???

Children Rap Explicit Lyrics From Rick Ross & 2 Chainz In "Kids" Video

A series of children rap profane, sexually explicit lyrics from Rick Ross, 2 Chainz and others in the video for "Kids."
Rap lyrics from 2 Chainz’s “Birthday Song” and Rick Ross’s verse on Rocko’s “U.O.E.N.O.” are among those rapped by pre-teen children in the video for “Kids."
The clip was created by Jimmy Smith II and Jarrel Smith of Los Angeles-based agency Amusement Park.
"We just wanted to hold up a mirror to the types of messages we pump into our heads all day," the Smiths said during an interview with fastcocreate.com. "We hope this film pushes some of our favorite, super-talented artists to push themselves toward more honest and balanced art. Not cleaner or censored, but honest. If rappers rapped about Hot Wheels and ice cream on every song it wouldn't be honest, either. But if you have 12 songs about money, where are the songs about the things money does not fix? Nobody is perfect, but as creatives we can always be honest. Honesty--it's what makes truly great art, great.”
“All I want for my birthday is a big booty hoe,” 2 Chainz raps on “Birthday Song,” a single he released last year.
In April, Rick Ross lost his endorsement deal from Reekbok after the lyrics from verse on Rocko’s “U.O.E.N.O.” led to a public protest in front of the shoe company’s New York City story. In the song, Ross raps, "Put Molly all in her champagne, she ain't even know it / I took her home and enjoy that, she ain't even know it.”
“Reebok holds our partners to a high standard and we expect them to live up to the values of our brand,” Reebok said in an April statement. "Unfortunately, Rick Ross has failed to do so.”

The-Dream Defends Drake's Singing

                            The-Dream Defends Drake's Singing
The-Dream gives props to Drake as a songwriter, says the Canadian musician should take full advantage of being able to sing and rap.
Although Canadian artist Drake’s ability to both sing and rap on a record has been criticized by the likes of Lord Jamar and Compton rapper Problem, The-Dream recently gave props to the Young Money emcee for being skilled in singing, rapping, and songwriting.
During an interview with Vlad TV, The-Dream suggested that those critical of Drake are possibly envious of the rapper’s talents. The singer/songwriter also revealed that he would take full advantage of the ability to both sing and rap if he was in Drake’s position.
“Not me. Sing nigga, sing,” said The-Dream when asked about Drake’s critics. “And get your money. People talk you out of anything when they see you doing something that they can’t do. Yeah, it’s a trick. You can’t fall for it. Can’t fall for it. I would sing my ass off. I’d do a whole singing album. Drop it on Valentine’s Day. Show up, chest out with some roses. ‘What?’”
The-Dream later praised Drizzy for his talents as a songwriter, stating that that particular quality is the one he’s most impressed by.
“I just like him as a songwriter,” said The-Dream. “I think what I like about him, probably no one really thinks about. He’s just a great songwriter. No, he’s just a great songwriter, period. It ain’t about songwriting outside of himself. Even for his self he’s just a great songwriter. And that’s what I like about him. You know? Other people like certain things. The machine can create what they want you to like about somebody. But at the end of it, at the core of it it’s still like certain things that is just intangibles. And that songwriting thing is just one thing. He would be great even if he didn’t have the other stuff.”
In a recent interview with MTV News, Drake stated that he has no desire to stick with purely rapping on an album and revealed that he’ll never release “a straight rap album.”
“If you wanna listen to Drake music for the rest of your life I welcome it,” said Drake while speaking on Nothing Was The Same in September. “I want you to listen to it. I want you to be a part of it, but just don’t ever be surprised like when I’m singing or using melody. I’m doing that on this album. This album is not some straight rap album. I’ll never do a straight rap album.”

Target Says It Won't Sell Beyonce's Self-Titled Album

Target Says It Won't Sell Beyonce's Self-Titled Album
Walmart says it will carry "Beyonce."
Beyonce's self-titled visual album has shattered an iTunes record for first week sales and it is set to be the singer's most successful album to date. Still, Target says it will not carry the project.
"At Target we focus on offering our guests a wide assortment of physical CDs, and when a new album is available digitally before it is available physically, it impacts demand and sales projections," Target spokesperson Erica Julkowski says in an interview with Billboard. "While there are many aspects that contribute to our approach and we have appreciated partnering with Beyonce in the past, we are primarily focused on offering CDs that will be available in a physical format at the same time as all other formats. At this time, Target will not be carrying Beyonce's new self-titled album Beyonce."
Beyonce was released as an iTunes exclusive Friday (December 13) with no pre-release promotion for the project. Since then, the album has only been available in its entirety and it has only been available on iTunes. Songs are set to be available for individual purchase December 20, with physical copies available in stores likely on the same date, according to billlboard.com.
Target and Beyonce partnered on exclusive editions of her past albums. For instance, in 2011, Beyonce's 4 had an exclusive version for Target with six bonus cuts.
While Target is not scheduled to carry the project, Walmart is slated to carry a non-explicit version of Beyonce.
"[Walmart is] happy to be able to carry her album and support all physical music," Walmart spokesperson Sarah McKinney says to billboard.com.

R. Kelly Tells CRWN Tupac, Not Jay Z, Was Supposed To Make "The Best Of Both Worlds"

R. Kelly Tells CRWN Tupac, Not Jay Z, Was Supposed To Make "The Best Of Both Worlds"

UPDATE: R. Kelly says that he and Tupac were supposed to collaborate on "The Best Of Both Worlds."
While most musicians have been known to record dozens of songs while crafting a studio album, Chicago crooner R. Kelly says he recorded nearly 400 songs while creating his most recent LP, Black Panties.
During his newly-released CRWN interview, the singer revealed that he recorded a total of 362 songs for Black Panties. He shared that number when asked why he chose to include his “Shut Up” track on the album. According to Kelly, “Shut Up” was a song he created shortly after being released from the hospital and was aimed directly at critics.
On the song, R. Kelly croons, “He's washed up, he's lost it, he ain't got it no more/Well I'm here to tell you today, boy you haters are so slow.”
He later revealed that when it came between “Shut Up” and another song, “Shut Up” was an easy choice for Black Panties.
“I did 362 songs for the Black Panties album,” said Kelly. “And it took me a long, long time. It took me about a month. Me, Wayne, and DeVyne Stephens got together and that was the hardest task of the whole project is breaking down what songs we were gonna do. And once we finally got to it it was between ‘Shutup’ and another song. And the reason I chose ‘Shutup’ is because my surgery and the whole thing I went through. The 30-something stitches, my throat. I had an abscess on my lung and everything from singing and straining and this, that, and the other, man. And then I started hearing all of the rumors about ‘He ain’t got it no more. Kells is old.’ Even some celebrities out there was talking shit. But it’s all good…Right after I got out of hospital after being in there for nine days I went in and that’s the first song that came out of my mouth was ‘Shutup.’ So, I said ‘This song gotta go on the album.’”
R. Kelly also commented on his musical relationship with fellow singer Lady Gaga, a relationship he says was a perfect match. Both Gaga and Kelly are featured on the songstress’ Artpop record “Do What U Want.”
“First of all, you know, I gotta keep it real,” he said. “Before I met her I felt like she was a sexy girl because she was—the things she would do onstage and how the dress up thing. She’s really into her style. She’s locked into her character. And she don’t give a damn about what nobody say about it. You know what I’m saying? So, I love her for that. Right off the bat. It’s weird, but sorta like with the Bulls when Dennis Rodman came to the Bulls he was just doing what he wanted to do. But he would get a million pounds for us. So, I was like ‘I love him.’ So, that’s the same attitude I had about Gaga. Then when I met her I felt like I met my match. You know, because she got balls. She don’t give a damn. She writes her music. She produces some of her music. She comes up with her own concepts. And I do the same thing. So, it was almost like a—it was a perfect match.”
Lastly, R. Kelly referred to Black Panties as an “explicit classic” and spoke on incorporating humor into his projects.
“But I think it’s explicit classic. You know, it’s sexual classy,” said the singer. “I think it’s an album that’s gon’ be around for a while. Just like 12 Play. It’s forever. You know what I’m saying? So, that’s what I’m expecting Black Panties to be. Just as long as women are gonna be wearing black panties, Black Panties will be around…I was always a house clown coming up. I would always make up songs and rhymes and stuff. And just have my family cracking up. My mom…And I would just joke a lot coming up. And when I got my music, my record deal, and I got musically inclined, and my gifts started to develop, I started incorporating that in there.”
Released on December 10, Black Panties serves as R. Kelly’s twelfth studio album. The album is expected to move close to 100,000 units in its first week.

Fox News host Megyn Kelly says Jesus and Santa are white

By

Fox News host Megyn Kelly has made herself the center of a racial controversy by declaring that Jesus Christ and Santa Claus are white.
On Wednesday night, Kelly was responding to an article by Slate writer Aisha Harris, who wrote an article entitled “ Santa Claus Should Not Be a White Man Anymore .”
The popular news host told viewers of “The Kelly File,” her hit FNC program, “When I saw this headline, I kinda laughed and I said, ‘Oh, this is ridiculous. Yet another person claiming it's racist to have a white Santa.’ And by the way, for all you kids watching at home, Santa just is white. But this person is maybe just arguing that we should also have a black Santa. But, you know, Santa is what he is, and just so you know, we're just debating this because someone wrote about it, kids.”
Of course, a number of critics were quick to point out that Santa Claus is a fictional character. And while he was based on St. Nicholas, a white man, his exact description is largely left up to individual interpretation.
However, after a guest on Kelly’s show defended the Slate article, Kelly extended her argument to further claim that the historical figure Jesus Christ was in fact Caucasian:
“Just because it makes you feel uncomfortable doesn't mean it has to change. You know, I mean, Jesus was a white man, too,” Kelly said. “He was a historical figure; that's a verifiable fact — as is Santa, I want you kids watching to know that — but my point is: How do you revise it, in the middle of the legacy of the story, and change Santa from white to black?”
Unlike Santa, the racial heritage of Jesus Christ has been debated for years. Technically, the New Testament does not contain a description of his skin pigment, though most modern Western depictions do portray him as a white man. Though there is little to no factual or scholarly work on the biblical figure’s racial heritage, a 2011 BBC documentary “Son of God” attempted to create a modern composite of what Jesus might have looked like. The analysis concluded that such a historic figure would likely have had dark skin, based on the Middle Eastern desert climate in which the New Testament stories took place. “Experts have decided Jesus would have been anything but pearly white,” the BBC declared.
Interestingly, Kelly’s opinion offering comes only days after she told Jay Leno, “I am a straight news anchor. I am not one of the opinion hosts at Fox.”
Harris responded to Kelly’s broadcast , noting her piece was intended to be “a little tongue-in-cheek,” but nonetheless declared, “If you’re seriously emphatic that he is white and must remain white, there’s a good chance that your view of the rest of the world is just as limited and unimaginative. I mean, we are talking about a magical man who slides down your chimney every Christmas Eve. Just so we’re clear.”

Beyonce's Album Sells 800,000 Copies & Breaks iTunes Record

Beyonce's Album Sells 800,000 Copies & Breaks iTunes Record

Beyonce's self-title album, which dropped exclusively on iTunes Friday (December 13), sold more than 828,000 units over the weekend, according to huffingtonpost.com.
Beyonce is the fastest-selling project to debut on iTunes. It reportedly sold more than 617,000 units domestically. The project sold more than 80,000 units in its first three hours of availability on iTunes.
The project's first-week sales figures are also Beyonce's best, topping her 2006 album B'day's 541,000 first week sales total.
Beyonce was released as a visual album, featuring 14 selections and 17 videos. The project is being sold for $15.99. Songs are not scheduled to be available for individual purchase until December 20.
"I see music," Beyonce said. "It's more than just what I hear. When I'm connected to something, I immediately see a visual or a series of images that are tied to a feeling or emotion, a memory from my childhood, thoughts about life, my dream or my fantasies. They're all connected to the music. That's one of the reasons why I wanted to do a visual album. I wanted people to hear the songs with the story that's in my head. That's what makes it mine."

Day26 Reportedly Reunites

Day26 Reportedly Reunites
Day26 is set to return with a 30-city tour including all of its original members.
Day26, a group formed by Diddy on MTV's "Making The Band," has announced that it is reuniting.
The band, which came together in 2007, is planning a 30-city reunion tour set to start Spring 2014, according totmz.com
The reunion is slated to feature all of Day26's members.
The band disbanded more than once, most recently in 2012.
Diddy is not set to be a part of the reunion, but tmz.com reports that Day26 has his blessing.
In 2012, Day26 attempted a reunion without all of its members. Day's Brian Angel spoke about the time off in an interview with Vibe that year.
"We basically hit the ground running," Brian said. "You know, to recording the first album, to touring, to doing various shows and we had no down time. So we pretty much took this time off to lay back, enjoy our families and really get the direction we’re supposed to go in with this album and things like that. Other than that, we’ve just been working."
Danity Kane, another "Making The Band" group, recently reunited without all of its original members.

Dr. Dre Reveals He Doesn't Listen To His Music After It's Released

Dr. Dre Reveals He Doesn't Listen To His Music After It's Released

Dr. Dre also speaks about his chemistry with Eminem.
Dr. Dre is notoriously reclusive when it comes to media coverage, but recently the legendary producer opened up about a number of things in an interview with Esquire.
Dre spoke about how the creative process sometimes gets a hold of him. "I’ve gone seventy-nine hours without sleep, creating," he said. "When that flow is going, it’s almost like a high. You don’t want it to stop. You don’t want to go to sleep for fear of missing something."
Dre also revealed that he only listens to his music during the creative process, not after it's been completed. "I don’t even listen to the records after they come out," said Dre. "It’s outlawed in my house. My wife and my kids can’t play any of my music around me. Once it comes out, for me, it’s just business. Numbers."
Dr. Dre also spoke about arguably his most famous pupil, Eminem, focusing on the duo's chemistry. "The race factor was just a minuscule part of what I was doing with Eminem," he said. "It was really about the music and how well we worked together. When me and Marshall got in the studio, it instantly clicked. I put the track on, we had a little bit of idle chitchat, I put on the beat, and maybe five seconds in—I swear to God—he goes, 'Hi, my name is.' That was it. And it’s still clicking. There’s something about our thing that’s just magical."
Dr. Dre recently revealed a new beat through a Beats By Dre commercial with Kendrick Lamar.

Arsenio Hall Criticizes Kanye West

Arsenio Hall Criticizes Kanye West
Arsenio Hall says Kanye West was misinformed regarding his career and that he should not use the term "slave."
Arsenio Hall recently said that Kanye West was misinformed if he thought he was fired from his talk show.
"Like usual, Kanye's premise confuses the facts," Hall said in a video published by HipHollywood. "Therefore everything else has to be thrown out."
Hall continued, explaining that he was not fired.
"I just left my show," Hall said. "The White man didn't do nothing this time, bruh. Save that for when the White man do do somethin'."
West spoke about Arsenio Hall in a recent interview with New York radio station Hot 97
"I can use my voice, but what'll happen if y'all don't buy no more albums?" West said. "Then people are gonna say, 'He's like Arsenio Hall. He was turning up too much and now you fired, but when you got money, can't nobody fire you."
During the press conference, Hall also criticized West's 2013 single, "New Slaves."
"I hate the word ‘slave’ used in songs," Hall said in the press conference clip. "The [expletive] outta here. Do you know what that word is? Do you know what that word is all about? Nobody can use ‘slave’ in pop culture. If you’re in the music business, you shouldn’t [expletive] with that word. Too serious an era. Too serious a problem in America. There is no one that’s free to move around this country that should use the word ‘slave.’ Do you know what it meant to slaves?"
