Beyonce's Album Sells 800,000 Copies & Breaks iTunes Record

Beyonce's Album Sells 800,000 Copies & Breaks iTunes Record

Beyonce's self-title album, which dropped exclusively on iTunes Friday (December 13), sold more than 828,000 units over the weekend, according to huffingtonpost.com.
Beyonce is the fastest-selling project to debut on iTunes. It reportedly sold more than 617,000 units domestically. The project sold more than 80,000 units in its first three hours of availability on iTunes.
The project's first-week sales figures are also Beyonce's best, topping her 2006 album B'day's 541,000 first week sales total.
Beyonce was released as a visual album, featuring 14 selections and 17 videos. The project is being sold for $15.99. Songs are not scheduled to be available for individual purchase until December 20.
"I see music," Beyonce said. "It's more than just what I hear. When I'm connected to something, I immediately see a visual or a series of images that are tied to a feeling or emotion, a memory from my childhood, thoughts about life, my dream or my fantasies. They're all connected to the music. That's one of the reasons why I wanted to do a visual album. I wanted people to hear the songs with the story that's in my head. That's what makes it mine."
