Once again we rap up our annual Top Wisconsin 2015 list this is our 5th one and it was put together to honor our state artists. Now we cant please everyone so we encourage you to work harder. So as many of you know this was a HUGE year for the Wisconsin Music Scene our talent has grown. This list is based on your yearly grind and up to date projects. T.I. & Mekhi Phifer Join The Cast Of ‘Roots’ Remake



Clifford “Tip” Harris (ATL, American Gangster) is once again pursuing his other gig as an actor. The Atlanta rapper has been named as a cast member for A+E Networks’ remake of Roots.

Tip (aka T.I.) will play the role of Cyrus. The character is described as a headstrong slave that joined the Union Army during the Civil War.
Veteran actor Mekhi Phifer (8 Mile, Divergent) has been cast as a mute slave named Jerusalem. Laurence Fishburne, Forest Whitaker, Anna Paquin, Anika Noni Rose, Chad L. Coleman, Derek Luke, and others have already signed on for the four-part miniseries.
Will Packer (Ride Along, Straight Outta Compton) is listed as one of the executive producers. LeVar Burton – a lead star of the original 1976 Roots miniseries – is a co-executive producer.
The four episodes will be directed by Mario Van Peebles, Bruce Beresford, Phillip Noyce, and Thomas Carter, respectively. Grammy winner Questlove of The Roots has been hired to oversee the music.
The new adaptation of Roots is scheduled to premiere on A+E in 2016.

Spike Lee Catches More Flack Over ChiRaq



Spike Lee’s movie “ChiRaq” is catching hell from the local Chicago community, even though the film is getting good reviews.
Rapper King Louis has not minced words with his latest song, “F**k Spike Lee.”

“F**k Spike…no peace, no pu**y that’s thats bulls**t to me,” Louie raps. The rest of the song does not analyze his issues with the song in any criteria manner.
The premise of the movie is rooted in “Lysistrata,” the Ancient Greek play where women withhold sex to make soldiers stop warring.
Chance The Rapper, who was recently named the Chicagoan of the Year, detailed why he and others are not supporting the movie.

Nicki Minaj Bails Out Brother Charged With Raping Child

The rapper included two of her homes in the bond.

Nicki Minaj posted a $100,000 bail to have her brother released from jail, Page Sixreports. The bond offer included two of Minaj's homes.
"She was prepared to do anything for her brother,” a source told the publication.
Jelani Maraj was arrested Tuesday (December 1) in New York for charges of first-degree rape and first-degree sexual conduct against a child under the age of 13, the Associated Press reports. He was arraigned Thursday at Nassau University Medical Center because he had to be hospitalized due to a medical condition.
Newsday says "the victim was someone he had access to" and was 12 years old.
Minaj attended her brother's wedding in August.

Kanye West & Kim Kardashian Welcome Second Child

Kardashian gave birth to the couple's first son.

Kim Kardashian gave birth to a son today (December 5). This is her second child with husband Kanye West.
"TO OUR FANS: KANYE AND I WELCOME OUR BABY BOY!" Kardashian wrote on her website. "Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West welcomed the arrival of their son this morning. Mother and son are doing well."
The post does not give the name of the child.
West and Kardashian also have a daughter, North West, who is 2 ½ years old.

Migos Members Enter Plea Deals

The three group members were arrested in April and Offset was released from jail yesterday.

All three members of Migos entered plea deals to various charges yesterday (December 4), WSB-TV Atlanta reports.
Offset was freed from jail yesterday after being denied bail three times. The news outlet says he pled guilty to participation in a riot in a penal institution. He submitted an Alford plea, which means he said he did not do the crime, but is accepting the penalty. He receives five years probation, a $1,000 fine and banishment from four counties in Georgia. TMZ says the 200-plus days he spent in jail will count towards his sentence and the battery charged filed against him was dropped.
Takeoff receives 12 months probation for a guilty plea of possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
Quavo entered a no contest plea to his misdemeanor marijuana charge, which can be suspended based on the payment of a fine.
The group was arrested in April on drug and weapons charges.
